As another school year comes to a close, football season begins to come into view. With a new season beginning, players interested in joining the team begin practicing through exercise, focusing, and generally increasing their excitement.
“I am preparing by coming to my football period, working out and taking everything seriously,” junior Julian Diaz said.
With a new season comes new responsibilities, and both new and returning players understand that to succeed, staying concentrated and determined is key.
“This upcoming fall season is going to be better than last year,” sophomore Nicholas Darthard said. “I will push myself and my teammates to be the best version of themselves just so our team can succeed.”
During morning and evening practices that are held, players learn to keep their focus, while simultaneously strengthening their friendships, even holding each other accountable to help each other do well.
“During our long practices, I just keep myself motivated by talking to teammates and just staying relaxed,” Darthard said. “My mind can tell me I am tired but I know I have to keep going, my teammates are always keeping me focused and on track when we practice together.”
Various other ways that students train themselves comes through working out, and even watching films to better understand how players in the past have won their games.
As the season approaches many athletes look forward to showing off their skills, “I prepare myself by lifting every day, watching film and getting field work put in 3-4 times a week,” junior Legend Luster said.
For those interested in trying out for football, tryouts will be held in the spring.
