Despite a rocky start to the season, the Brazoswood Varsity Baseball team has found their rhythm with the addition of Coach Chris Nabors. Under his leadership, the team has stepped up their game, showing stronger effort and turning it into real results on the field.
“The season is going pretty good, the team is starting to hit again,” junior Skyler Gordon said. “Me and Mason are pitching pretty well, it gives us a good chance to win. ”
As their season progressed, the team gradually saw improvement not only in their method of playing, but in the bonds they have with each other.
“As of right now we are doing good, we are starting to win,” junior Jaxson Zuniga said. “The best thing about the baseball team is the brotherhood that we have.”
While the team has strong skills, there are things that players recognize as needing improvement, whether it’s friendship among teammates, or general performance during games.
“We could improve on hitting, we need to score more runs,” Gordon said.
In order to improve support among teammates, many players recognize that chemistry within the team goes beyond the baseball diamond.
“We could improve hanging out more outside of school,” junior Eastyn Dotson said. “Supporting each other is really important for winning a game, so the more we’re around each other, the better of a chance we have at doing good.”
With Coach Nabors leading the way and a commitment to constant improvement, the team is focused on finishing the season stronger than ever, through every win and every setback, the players remain united in their goal to make a lasting impact on the program.
“The season is going very well, we’re fourth in the district right now,” senior Miguel Nava said. “Being on the baseball team is everything, we’re family and always have each other’s backs.”
