The principal of Brazoswood High School, Dr. Jarrett Johnson has impacted students, coworkers, and other staff members in many ways during his time as principal, making a great impression for his first year.
“Our principal has great communication skills, and he wants to check on students during the passing period to see how they’re doing and to make sure they’re having a good time overall at the school,” Assistant Principal Barbara Johnston said.
While walking in the halls, Johnson always tries to connect with students, giving them high fives, and generally making them feel supported and cared for each day, even going as far as to attend students’ games, competition send-offs, and many other events.
“I always want to be there for my students and try to show up to different events to show that I got their backs,” Johnson said. “Whether they lose or not, they’ll always have a place in my heart.”
As the year has progressed, Johnson has put in effort to make many improvements throughout the school, whether it comes from boosting morale among students and staff, making sure students are wearing their ID’s, among many other things.
“Dr. Johnson is a really positive person to be around and to work with, since he makes sure to check up on all of his coworkers,” Assistant Principal Brian Lovetinsky said. “He has always tried to be there as some support that not all of the students get on a daily basis or at any of their events.”
Overall, Johnson’s first year at the high school has affected everyone enrolled and working at the school in a positive way, whether it comes from improvements within the school, support for students, or general care for those he works with. As his time at the school goes on, many look forward to what he will achieve during his time as principal.
