As the fall season rapidly approaches, the Brazoswood Belles are beginning to search for members to join their team. For those interested in performing at football games during the fall and later performing on a stage in the spring, Belles may be for you. Tryout clinics for the team start on March 24th, followed by another clinic on March 26th.
As a new change to tryouts, students will now be evaluated by judges outside of Brazoswood, on top of Belles Director Ashley Farrar and Assistant Principal Barbara Johnston.
“For the first time in several years, we will have outside judges come select the JV and Varsity spirit program,” Farrar said.
Judges are evaluating performance quality, as well as students’ ability to perform an across the floor drill which incorporates leaps and turns, a field jazz routine, and a kick routine to the Fight Song. Judges will also evaluate flexibility, and pirouettes.
Students attending tryouts will be split into groups of three or four, with one group tryout out at a time to allow judges to fully see each candidate.
“I think having judges evaluating the tryouts allows more trained eyes to see all candidates’ potential,” Farrar said.
Tryouts will be held on March 27th, and students can learn results the day after through the Belles Tryout Google Classroom or SportsYou.
